Safety & Reporting
Last updated: 2 October 2026 · Online Safety Act 2023
Hectic Music is a user-to-user video service operated by Hectic Software Ltd, United Kingdom. This page explains how to report illegal or harmful content, how we handle reports and complaints, and a summary of how we assess illegal-content risk under the Online Safety Act 2023.
1. In an emergency
If someone is in immediate danger, call 999. To report suspected child sexual abuse imagery you can also report directly to the Internet Watch Foundation at report.iwf.org.uk. Terrorism content can be reported to the police via gov.uk/report-terrorism.
2. How to report illegal or harmful content
Use the Report button under any video or on any comment (you need to be signed in). Without an account, email support@hecticmusic.co.uk with the subject “Report”. Please include:
- the full web address (URL) of the video, comment, channel or profile;
- what you think is wrong, and if you believe it is illegal, which kind of content (for example child sexual exploitation, terrorism, threats or harassment, hate, fraud, intimate-image abuse);
- any other detail that helps us assess it, and how to contact you for follow-up (optional).
Copyright complaints should follow our Copyright & DMCA process (copyright@hecticmusic.co.uk). You can also block a user from their channel page when signed in.
3. What happens next
- We review each report and prioritise the most serious categories, including child safety and terrorism, ahead of others.
- If content is illegal or breaks our Community Guidelines we may remove or restrict it, warn or restrict the account, and where required report it to the National Crime Agency, the police or Ofcom.
- We keep a record of the report and decision. We aim to tell reporters the outcome where we have contact details, but we may not share details of action taken against another user where the law or an investigation prevents it.
- We do not publish fixed response times; we will review reports as quickly as we reasonably can.
4. If you disagree with a decision, or want to complain
If your content was removed or your account was restricted you can appeal: see our Appeals Policy. If you want to complain about how we handled a report, how we comply with our safety duties, or believe we are not meeting our duties under the Online Safety Act, email support@hecticmusic.co.uk with the subject “Complaint”. We will acknowledge and consider it. Complaints are reviewed separately from the original decision where practicable.
5. Illegal-content risk assessment: summary
We keep an internal, living illegal-content risk assessment which we review at least once a year and whenever we launch features that change how people interact or how content is discovered. In summary:
- Where risk arises: video uploads, comments, live-stream chat, links in descriptions and comments, and discovery features (feeds, search and recommendations).
- Highest-impact risks: child sexual exploitation and abuse, terrorism, and illegal content in real-time live chat. We rate their likelihood as lower but their impact as critical, and prioritise them.
- Other risks we assess: hate and harassment, fraud and scam links, and illegal distribution of copyrighted material.
- Measures: reporting, moderation queues and tools (hide, remove, restrict, strike), a user block tool, appeals and complaints, clear terms and guidelines, record keeping, and cooperation with regulators and law enforcement.
We do not currently offer private direct messaging. We will reassess our risks before adding it. This summary is not the full assessment.
